Organize PDF

Next

Sometimes you don’t need a fancy PDF editor, you just need to shuffle pages, turn a sideways scan right-way-up, drop the blank pages from a duplex capture, and save. This tool shows every page of the PDF as a thumbnail, lets you drag them into the order you want, rotate in 90-degree increments, delete individual pages, and insert pages from another PDF. Save and you have a clean document.

How to reorganise a PDF

  1. 1

    Upload the PDF

Drag and drop, or pick a file. Large documents render as thumbnails page by page.

  2. 2

    Reorder by dragging

Grab a page thumbnail and drop it where you want it in the sequence.

  3. 3

    Rotate sideways pages

Click the rotate icon on a page to flip it 90, 180 or 270 degrees.

  4. 4

    Delete unwanted pages

Click the bin icon on blank, duplicate or outdated pages.

  5. 5

    Insert from another PDF (optional)

Drag a second PDF in to splice its pages at a chosen position.

  6. 6

    Save the result

Download the reorganised PDF. The original is untouched.

When “organize” is the right tool

Situation Why this tool fits
Scanner produced blank pages from duplex Drag and delete the empties
Pages arrived out of order from fax or scan Drag to reorder
Document captured upside-down on one side Rotate 180 in place
Merging two scans into one report Insert from second PDF at chosen position
Removing cover letter or last-page appendix Drag out or delete specific pages

What it keeps and what it may lose

  • Keeps: text layer, embedded fonts, images, bookmarks pointing to kept pages, page-level metadata.
  • Adjusts: page numbers in the page tree (internal), bookmark destinations that still exist, internal links to reordered pages.
  • May lose: bookmarks or cross-references pointing to pages you deleted, they will be dropped or redirected.

Tips for a clean result

  • Work from a copy. The tool writes a new PDF but always keep the original until the new file is verified.
  • Rotate before reordering. It is easier to see the flow once all thumbnails are upright.
  • Use “insert from PDF” instead of recombining after the fact, it keeps formatting consistent.
  • Check bookmarks. Open the reorganised PDF in a reader and confirm the outline still makes sense.

Common mistakes

  • Forgetting the back covers. Scans often have a blank back page; delete it before saving.
  • Rotating without re-flattening. Rotations applied in-editor are saved as metadata most of the time. If you need hard rotation (image baked in), use a flatten step afterwards.
  • Mixing page sizes. Inserting A3 pages into a Letter document is legal in PDF but creates an awkward reading experience. Match sizes when possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Processing runs in your browser when file size permits. For very large documents the file may be uploaded for server-side rendering and deleted within an hour. Never drop confidential documents into any online tool without checking the privacy policy.

Bookmarks that point to kept pages are updated to track them. Bookmarks pointing to deleted pages are dropped. If the PDF has internal hyperlinks, they may need manual review after major reorganisation.

Not directly, this tool is for reorganising within a single document. Use the dedicated PDF Split tool when you want to output multiple files by page range.

Rotation is stored as a page-level attribute in PDF. Most modern viewers respect it; very old or non-compliant readers may ignore it. If you need permanent rotation, re-render the PDF as images and repackage.
