Weird Text Generator

This weird text generator turns ordinary writing into glitchy, corrupted-looking “zalgo” text by stacking Unicode combining marks on top of each character. A weirdness slider takes you from a lightly haunted flicker to a fully chaotic, dripping mess. Because the marks pile onto whatever you type, the effect works on any language or alphabet, not only the Latin letters that other fancy-text generators are limited to. Copy the result straight into a bio, display name, caption or Discord message.

How to generate weird text

  1. 1

    Type or paste your text

Any language works: the glitch marks stack on top of the letters you already have.

  2. 2

    Set the weirdness level

The slider from 1 to 10 controls how many marks pile on, from a subtle flicker to total chaos.

  3. 3

    Copy the glitched text

One tap copies the result, ready to paste anywhere Unicode is allowed.

What “weird text” really is

Weird or “zalgo” text is normal writing with extra Unicode combining marks stacked on top of each letter. These marks (accents, hooks, slashes and tails) were designed to sit above, below or through a base character. Piling several onto every letter makes the words look glitched, haunted or corrupted, while the underlying letters stay the same.

What the weirdness slider does

Level What it adds Look
1-3 A few marks above each letter Light glitch, still easy to read
4-6 Marks above and below Letters start to drip and smear
7-10 Marks above, below and through Fully corrupted, chaotic “cursed” text

Works with any alphabet

Unlike bold, script or bubble generators that only restyle the 26 Latin letters, this effect stacks marks on top of whatever you type, so it works on Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, Hebrew, Thai and CJK just as well. Complex scripts that already use their own marks may render the extra ones unpredictably, and some apps strip stacked marks, so preview before you post.

Where it renders (and where it breaks)

Destination Result
Discord, Twitter/X, Tumblr Renders well
Instagram, TikTok bios and captions Usually renders; some apps thin out the marks
LinkedIn Normalised away for search
Google search box Non-ASCII stripped, so it is not searchable
SMS and old Android Very long strings can lag or mis-render

Accessibility and etiquette

Screen readers read every combining mark aloud, so a heavily glitched word becomes an unreadable stream for anyone who relies on one. Keep weird text short and decorative, never use it for essential information, and avoid burying whole messages in it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Some apps and older fonts only render a couple of stacked marks and drop the rest, or show them as small boxes. Lower the weirdness slider for wider compatibility.

Most platforms restrict handles to plain ASCII, so combining marks are rejected there. Display names, bios and message bodies usually accept the full Unicode range.

It cannot harm your device, but a very long, high-intensity string can slow down or briefly freeze older text-rendering engines on low-end phones. Keep it short.

No. Your text is processed only to produce the styled output and is not saved to a database or shared.
