Website Screenshot Tool

Need a quick screenshot of a web page? Paste any public URL and this tool shows an instant preview rendered by thum.io, a free screenshot service, then gives you one-click links to open the same page in Screenshot Machine, Urlbox and ApiFlash, where you can take full-page captures, choose device sizes and pick a file format. There is also a shortcut to the Wayback Machine so you can see how the page looked in the past. Nothing is rendered on our own servers: the preview and the captures come from these third-party services, so the URL you enter is sent to them.

How to screenshot a web page

  1. 1

    Enter the URL

Type or paste any public web address, for example example.com. The https:// prefix is added automatically.

  2. 2

    See the instant preview

A live screenshot from thum.io appears below the field, 1280 pixels wide. It can take a few seconds on the first request.

  3. 3

    Open a full-featured service

For full-page captures, mobile sizes or a specific file format, open the page in Screenshot Machine, Urlbox or ApiFlash.

  4. 4

    Or view the history

Use the Wayback Machine link to browse older snapshots of the same URL.

What this tool does

This is not a server-side screenshot engine. It shows a live preview from thum.io and gives you quick links to full-featured screenshot services, so you can pick the one that fits the job. Think of it as a launcher plus an instant thumbnail, not a renderer of its own.

What the built-in preview can and cannot do

  • The preview is fixed at 1280 px wide and shows the top of the page, not a full-page capture.
  • There is no device preset, no format switch and no download button: for those, open a linked service.
  • To save the preview image, right-click it (or long-press on mobile) and choose “Save image as”.

Privacy note

The URL you enter is sent to thum.io to render the preview, and to whichever service you open from the links. Do not paste private, internal or login-only URLs you would not want a third party to process. The preview is taken anonymously, without your cookies or session, so pages that need a login show the logged-out view.

Tips

  • Some sites block automated screenshot bots. If the preview is blank, try one of the other services.
  • For a pixel-perfect capture of your own logged-in session, use your browser’s built-in screenshot instead (in Chrome, DevTools has a “Capture full size screenshot” command).

Frequently Asked Questions

The built-in preview is a single 1280-pixel-wide view of the top of the page, not a full-page capture. For a full-page image, open the URL in Screenshot Machine, Urlbox or ApiFlash from the links: those services offer a full-page mode.

The preview is delivered as-is by thum.io. To pick a format, or to export a PDF, use one of the linked services, which let you choose the output type.

No. To render the preview, your URL is sent to thum.io, and opening any link sends it to that service too. Avoid pasting internal or login-protected URLs you do not want third parties to process.

Right-click the preview (or long-press on mobile) and choose “Save image as”. For a proper download with more options, open one of the linked services.

The screenshot is taken anonymously, without your cookies or login, so pages that require sign-in show the logged-out view. Some sites also block automated screenshot services, which can leave the preview empty.
