Truth or Dare Generator
Truth or Dare prompts
Truth or Dare prompts
A round of truth or dare keeps itself moving as long as someone can think of the next prompt, and that is exactly where most games stall. This generator deals from a curated bank of 15 truth questions and 15 dares, all family-friendly: no drinking, nothing explicit, nothing that ends friendships. Draw a mixed hand, truths only or dares only, up to 20 prompts at a time, and generate again whenever the pile runs low. Handy for sleepovers, class breaks, office parties and the awkward middle stretch of any get-together.
How to play
-
1
Choose a mode
Mixed deals truths and dares together; Only Truth and Only Dare stick to one side of the game.
-
2
Set how many prompts
Anything from 1 to 20. Ask for more than the bank holds and you simply get the whole bank.
-
3
Generate
Each deal reshuffles the full bank, so no two hands come out in the same order.
-
4
Play the prompt
The player answers the truth honestly or performs the dare; the group decides whether it counts.
-
5
Skip fairly
Most house rules allow one or two skips per person, with a silly penalty dare afterwards.
What is in the bank
| Type | Count | Flavour | Real example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Truths | 15 | Confessions and ice-breakers | “What’s a secret talent nobody knows you have?” |
| Dares | 15 | Silly performances, no props beyond a phone | “Talk in an accent for the next 5 minutes.” |
All 30 prompts are written to be playable in front of classmates, colleagues or family: no alcohol, no explicit content, no dares that damage property or dignity. There are no hidden tiers or adult levels; what you see is the entire game. If your group wants something spicier, add house prompts of your own between rounds.
Rules most groups agree on
Traditional truth or dare has no hard rulebook, but most tables land on:
- No skips without penalty. Skipping should cost something, usually a silly penalty dare.
- No ganging up. Rotate who draws the prompts, or let the generator deal for fairness.
- Consent always. If a dare crosses someone’s line, they decline and the group respects the no.
- No lasting consequences. Dares that damage property, injure someone or embarrass beyond the room are off-limits.
Variations to keep it fresh
- Truth, Dare or Double Dare: the double dare must be performed with a partner of the player’s choice.
- Never have I ever: convert truth questions into group-wide statements.
- Two truths and a dare: the player does the dare after the group guesses which of two statements was true.
- Timed truth: answer within 5 seconds or it counts as a skip.
When the game is not working
- Everyone picks truth: deal an Only Dare hand so the shy half of the room has to move.
- The same prompt comes back: with 30 prompts in the bank, repeats are normal in long sessions. Treat a repeat as a wildcard and let the player invent a replacement.
- Energy drops: cap the game at 30-45 minutes and switch activities before it burns out.
- Too tame for your crowd: the built-in bank deliberately stays family-safe, so use it as a springboard and escalate with your own house prompts.
For kids at camp or school
The bank is already curated to be classroom-safe, so nothing needs filtering out. With younger kids, lean on the dares: they are movement-and-silliness based (dance for 30 seconds, try to lick your elbow) and work even for kids who find long questions hard to read.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. The whole bank, 15 truths and 15 dares, is curated to be playable at school, at work or with family. There is no drinking content, nothing explicit and no hidden “adult” tier: what you see is the entire game.
30 prompts: 15 truths and 15 dares. If you request more than the current mode holds, you simply get the whole pool, and long sessions will see repeats.
Every press of the button reshuffles the complete bank from scratch; there is no memory of earlier hands. Treat repeats as free passes or invent a replacement on the spot.
Not inside the tool: the bank is fixed. Plenty of groups keep a phone note with house prompts and mix them in between generated hands.
The browser shuffles the built-in prompt bank. In funnel mode, only the selected mode, requested count and shuffled order are kept temporarily in the current tab for up to 30 minutes so you can continue through the steps. They are never sent to or stored on our servers, never added to the URL, and the tool collects no names or answers.
