Plan a clear weekly coverage schedule for a small team. Set the week start date and choose Monday or Sunday as the first day, then edit three daily shifts with start and end times. Each shift can contain one or two required role slots. Add up to 12 roster members, assign eligible people across Monday to Sunday, and review gaps or overlapping same-person assignments before printing. The schedule stays in your browser. Download the displayed week as a PNG or use the browser print dialog to print or save a landscape PDF.

Build a weekly coverage grid

  1. 1

    Define the week and shifts

Choose the start date, the first weekday, paper size and three shift times. Add up to two required slots to each shift.

  2. 2

    Add the private roster

Enter up to 12 names and their assignment roles. The roster remains in the browser session.

  3. 3

    Assign and review

Choose eligible people for each day and slot, then resolve unfilled slots, time overlaps or invalid overnight shifts before export.

Coverage planning, not payroll

This maker is a small-team coverage planner. It produces a visual weekly grid with three editable shifts per day, one or two required slots per shift, and up to 12 roster members. At the maximum configuration, it can hold 42 day-and-slot assignments: seven days × three shifts × two slots. It is not a time clock, payroll system or compliance checker. It does not calculate hours worked, wages, overtime, breaks, leave, tax, labour-law eligibility or any other employment rule.

Use a role consistently. If a slot is labelled Welcome desk with the role Front desk, the assignment choices show roster members with that same role. A blank assignment is a factual unfilled required slot. The coverage summary also reports when the same person is assigned to overlapping shifts on one day. Time ranges use half-open intervals: a shift ending at 12:00 does not overlap one beginning at 12:00. Overnight shifts are deliberately outside this first version and must be corrected so the end time is after the start time before printing or moving through the funnel.

Check What it reports What to do
Unfilled slot A required slot has no selected person Assign an eligible roster member or remove the unnecessary slot
Same-person overlap One person has overlapping time ranges on the same day Choose another person or change the shift times
Invalid time A shift ends at or before its start Use a daytime shift that ends after it begins

For example, set Morning to 08:00–12:00 for the welcome desk and Daytime to 12:00–17:00 for service. Assigning the same person to both is allowed because the 12:00 handoff does not overlap. Changing the daytime shift to 11:30–17:00 creates a conflict for that person, which appears in the HTML summary and the canvas footer.

The exported image and Print action use the current displayed week only. Choose A4 or US Letter landscape before export, then select the same paper size in the print dialog. Data remains in browser session storage and is not uploaded to this tool.

Frequently Asked Questions

The schedule has three daily shifts, up to two required slots per shift, and up to 12 roster members. That is at most 42 day-and-slot assignments across one week.

No. It is a visual coverage schedule only. It does not calculate hours, wages, overtime, breaks, tax or legal compliance.

A conflict occurs when the same person is assigned to overlapping time ranges on the same day. A shift ending at 12:00 and another starting at 12:00 do not overlap.

Not in this version. Each shift must end after it starts on the same day. An overnight range is shown as invalid and blocks export.
