How to use the pros and cons list

    Describe the decision

    Optionally name the specific choice you are considering in no more than 200 characters.

    Add both sides

    Enter at least one valid pro and one valid con. You can add up to 20 reasons on each side.

    Set importance

    Give every filled reason a whole-number importance from 1 to 10, using the same scale for both sides.

    Review and export

    Read the totals as one perspective, test sensitive weights, then explicitly copy, download or share the summary if useful.

Make the comparison more useful

  • Keep each reason distinct so that one idea is not counted several times under different wording.
  • Separate confirmed facts from assumptions, and mark uncertain costs, dates or outcomes for verification.
  • Choose importance scores before looking at the totals to reduce the temptation to steer the result.
  • Test sensitivity by changing one uncertain score and checking whether the balance changes.

The comparison accepts up to 20 pros and 20 cons. Each reason can contain up to 500 characters, and each importance score must be a whole number from 1 to 10. A higher or equal total is only a numerical perspective. Safety, law, health, finances, personal values and non-negotiable constraints may matter more than the sum.

Your entries are not sent to our servers or placed in the URL. They remain in a versioned sessionStorage record in this browser for up to 30 minutes. The record uses an opaque identifier added only after you move forward. Copy, TXT download, CSV download and Web Share happen only after you choose them; Web Share depends on browser support. Avoid treating the tool as legal, financial or medical advice.
