Add a visible signature to a PDF

This tool draws a PNG image into the visible content of one PDF page. The image may look like handwriting or typed signature text, but its appearance does not establish who placed it or why.

What the result contains

• One visible signature image on one selected page.
• The original page count, with a new PDF file created by the browser.
• A local download before any optional server upload.

Run the tool again on the downloaded result if you need another visible mark. Each run adds one mark.

What the result does not contain

• A signer identity check or authentication.
• Evidence that the signer consented or intended to sign.
• A signing workflow, audit trail or witness record.
• A digital certificate, private-key signature or trusted timestamp.
• Cryptographic proof that the PDF has not changed since the mark was added.

A certificate-based PDF digital signature uses a digital ID and cryptography so compatible software can validate the signer certificate and report changes made after signing. This tool does none of that, so the output should not be described as digitally signed.

Legal effect depends on the full signing process

An electronic mark can be part of an electronic-signing process, but a pasted image is not automatically enforceable. The applicable law, document type, identity and intent evidence, consent, record retention, required formalities and the other party’s acceptance can all matter. This page cannot determine whether the result meets a legal or organizational requirement. Use an appropriate certificate-based or managed e-signature service when the recipient requires identity assurance, an audit trail, tamper evidence or a particular signature level.

Privacy, local storage and the optional download page

The source PDF and signature are processed locally. In the three-step flow, this tab keeps the source, signature and result in private browser storage for up to 30 minutes so the steps can continue. The browser storage guard allows at most three active jobs and 80 MB across them. Starting over removes the current job; expired or unavailable data cannot be recovered.

The output PDF must be 30 MB or smaller. Downloading it locally uploads nothing. If you separately choose Create a download page, only the derived PDF is uploaded and retained for up to 7 days. The original PDF and separate source signature image are not uploaded; the derived PDF necessarily contains the visible mark.

PDF compatibility and safe placement

Password-protected PDFs are not supported. The tool also rejects detected signature or certification fields because changing and saving an already signed file can invalidate its signature or make validation report later changes. Do not use an already signed or certified PDF even if a particular signature is not detected.

Pages rotated by 0, 90, 180 or 270 degrees and pages with an offset crop box are supported. The preview renders the selected visible page, and the placement is mapped back into the PDF coordinates when the mark is applied. Very large or unusually complex pages may still be rejected for browser safety. Saving an edited PDF can change its internal structure, and uncommon interactive features, attachments, scripts, layers, accessibility data or archival conformance are not guaranteed to remain exactly as before. Keep the original, inspect the downloaded copy in your normal PDF reader and use a specialist workflow when exact feature preservation matters.

There are 72 points in one inch. X and Y are measured from the physical top-left corner of the rendered, cropped page. X remains measured from the left even when the website language is written right to left.
