The calculator follows the selected chart exactly. It does not infer local alphabets, so a name such as “José”, “İpek”, “Łukasz”, “山田” or “نور” should be entered as a consistent Latin transliteration if you want every letter counted.
Example: Ada Lovelace in the Pythagorean system
- Expression total: 36 → 3 + 6 = 9
- Soul urge total: 19 → 1 + 9 = 10 → 1 + 0 = 1
- Personality total: 17 → 1 + 7 = 8
The same name gives different totals in the Chaldean system because the letter chart is different. That does not make one system more factual than the other; it simply means each tradition is using its own symbolic map.
Master numbers
Most numerology reductions continue until a single digit remains. The common exception is 11, 22 or 33. When one of those appears in the reduction chain, many modern numerology traditions keep it and read it together with its root number: 11 with 2, 22 with 4 and 33 with 6.
Read the result as reflection, not proof
Numerology is a symbolic and folkloric practice, not a scientific measurement. Treat the result as a prompt for journaling, conversation or self-reflection. Do not use it as evidence for hiring, medical, legal, financial or relationship decisions.

For a classical name reading, use the full birth name recorded at birth. You can also compare a married name, professional name or pen name, but read it as an added layer rather than a replacement.
The current letter charts are A-Z charts. Accents, punctuation, spaces and non-Latin characters are not counted. For names from Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Cyrillic or other scripts, enter the romanized form you normally use and keep it consistent.
Choose Pythagorean if you want the most common modern Western chart. Choose Chaldean if you prefer the older name-focused chart. Comparing both can be useful, as long as you remember they are symbolic systems.
