An Italian Partita IVA normally has 11 digits. The first 10 digits are used to calculate the final control digit. This tool performs that arithmetic locally: it doubles alternating positions in the first 10 digits, reduces doubled values above nine, totals the result, and derives the digit needed to reach the next multiple of ten.
Passing this check does not prove that the number is registered, active, owned by a particular business or person, authorized for intra-EU transactions, tax compliant, or valid for a specific invoice. A number can satisfy its local control digit while still being inactive, unassigned, mistyped in another way, or unsuitable for the purpose you have in mind.
When to use the official Italian service
The Agenzia delle Entrate’s official Partita IVA service can check tax-registry information such as activity status and the registered holder name or business name. Its VIES service is the relevant route for intra-EU authorization. This page does not contact either service, and it does not make an external request on your behalf.
Privacy and limits
