Use this Italian Tax Code Validator to check the structure and final control letter of an existing 16-character personal codice fiscale. It recognizes standard codes and permitted omocodia substitutions in numeric positions, then checks the encoded month and day locally in your browser.

How it works

  1. 1

    Enter an existing code

Paste or type one 16-character personal codice fiscale. Spaces are removed before the local check.

  2. 2

    Check its structure

The validator checks the letter, date, municipality-letter and numeric-position pattern, including valid omocodia characters.

  3. 3

    Review the control letter

It calculates the final character from the first 15 characters using the published control-character method.

  4. 4

Use the official service when needed

For tax-registry correspondence, use the Agenzia delle Entrate service instead of relying on this local check.

A 16-character personal codice fiscale encodes letters, a two-digit year, a month letter, a day field, a municipality or foreign-state code, and a final control letter. This tool checks the public structural rules, whether the day field is plausible for the encoded month, and whether the control letter agrees with the preceding 15 characters.

The result is not an official verification. A structurally valid code can still be unassigned, belong to a different person, or be affected by an administrative correction. This tool does not look up the Anagrafe tributaria, identify a person, confirm tax residency, or establish legal validity.

Omocodia

Italian tax codes can contain letters in selected numeric positions to resolve a duplicate code. Those substitutions are called omocodia. The validator accepts the permitted substitutions and applies their numeric equivalents for the date and control-letter checks. It does not decide whether a particular omocodia code was issued to a particular person.

Privacy and scope

The code is processed in this browser and kept only in browser session storage while you use the tool. It is not included in a request to our servers or placed in the page address. A codice fiscale is personal data, so avoid entering it on a shared device and use the official service if you need a registry result.

This validator is limited to the 16-character personal-code structure. It does not generate a code from a name, date or place of birth, and it does not validate temporary numeric codes or VAT numbers.
