Formula

weighted average = Σ(score × weight) / Σ(weight)

Only rows with a numeric score and a positive numeric weight contribute. The weights can be percentages, points or any consistent relative units because the denominator normalizes their total. Empty, invalid or zero-weight rows do not change the result.

The weighted total is 8,250 and the weights total 100, so the average is 82.50. The letter shown by this tool uses its fixed A to F scale; your syllabus may use a different scale, rounding rule or curve.

Three local steps

Step 1 is for entering and changing rows. Step 2 is a review of the calculated average and letter. Step 3 is the final result, with a back action and a fresh start action. During the funnel, your rows are kept in browser session storage so they survive navigation in the same browser session. They are not placed in the URL.

Privacy and limits

Calculation happens in the browser. Grade rows and results are not sent to our servers or included in the URL. Session storage is local to the current browser session, but it is not a secure vault: use Start over and avoid a shared device if the rows are sensitive. This tool does not connect to a school system or verify an official grade.

No. The calculator divides by the sum of the positive weights, so any consistent relative weights work. Check the syllabus separately to make sure every required component is represented.

Not necessarily. The displayed letter uses this tool’s fixed mapping. It cannot apply a school-specific curve, rounding policy, pass threshold or dropped-assignment rule.

A row contributes only when both its score and its weight are numeric and the weight is greater than zero.

No. The calculation and funnel recovery use browser state and session storage; scores and results are kept out of our servers and the URL.
