Flashcard Maker
Build a private text flashcard deck in your browser. Put one question=answer pair on each line. The maker uses the first equals sign as the split and keeps any later equals signs in the answer. You can flip through cards, choose a card from the list, review in order, shuffle with an optional seed, and download a local PNG study sheet.
How to build a deck
-
1
Write the pairs
Enter one non-empty `Question=Answer` pair per line. The first `=` separates the two sides, so an answer can contain another `=`.
-
2
Check the input
The status shows valid cards and skipped lines. A deck can contain up to 80 cards, with 24,000 graphemes in total and 280 graphemes on either side of one card.
-
3
Practice
Read the prompt, try to recall the answer, then flip the card. Use Previous and Next, select a listed card, or shuffle the deck.
-
4
Save a study sheet
Download a PNG that shows the current prompts and answers. The image is made locally in your browser.
Make each prompt answerable
Try to retrieve the answer before you flip the card. This is a simple form of retrieval practice. The maker gives you a small private practice surface; it does not measure what you know, grade answers, or promise a learning result.
Keep each prompt specific enough to have one intended answer. Instead of What is the capital?, write What is the capital of Canada?. If an answer needs a long explanation, keep the explanation in your notes and make smaller cards for the facts or steps you need to recall.
| Card type | Prompt | Answer |
|---|---|---|
| Definition | What does HTTP stand for? |
Hypertext Transfer Protocol |
| Vocabulary | perro (Spanish) |
dog |
| Formula cue | Area of a circle? |
pi x r squared |
| Interview prompt | Name one strength. |

What shuffle and the seed do
Shuffle changes the order in which this browser session shows the cards. If you enter a seed, the same deck and seed produce the same shuffled order. The maker does not schedule reviews, track streaks, decide when a card is due, or provide a reverse answer-to-question mode.
Privacy and temporary storage
Your deck and optional seed stay in this browser. They are not added to the URL, sent through Livewire, uploaded, or sent to an external service. In the step-by-step version, one temporary browser-session draft can last for up to 30 minutes so you can move between steps. Downloading the PNG or choosing Start over removes that draft sooner. The complete one-page editor keeps its current deck only until you leave or reload the page.
Export limits
The export is one local PNG study sheet that shows each prompt and answer together. It is not a PDF, a print-aligned double-sided card layout, an Anki deck, or an image-card editor. Text and emoji work as text, but the maker does not upload or embed images.
Frequently Asked Questions
Use one non-empty question=answer pair per line. The first equals sign divides the two sides. Blank lines, lines without that separator, pairs with an empty side, duplicate pairs, and entries beyond the limits are not added as cards.
Yes. Only the first = separates the question from the answer. For example, 2+2=4=even creates the prompt 2+2 and the answer 4=even.
The complete editor keeps the deck only while the page remains open. In the step-by-step flow, one temporary session-storage draft lasts for up to 30 minutes to support navigation. It is removed after PNG download or Start over, and browser session storage can also be cleared sooner when the tab or browser closes.
No. Card text and the optional seed are handled in this browser. They are not placed in URLs, sent through Livewire, uploaded, or sent to an external service.
No. This maker produces a local PNG study sheet only. It does not create a PDF, a print-aligned double-sided layout, an Anki package, or a spaced-repetition schedule.
A seed makes the shuffled order reproducible. With the same valid deck and the same seed, Shuffle produces the same order. Leave it empty if you do not need to repeat an order.
