Fake Reddit Post Generator

Mock up a Reddit thread with the exact subreddit, title, body, upvote count and awards you need. The output looks like a screenshot of the new Reddit desktop UI, rounded card, username with flair, vote arrows and a comment count, ready for a TikTok, YouTube thumbnail or classroom case study.

How to mock a Reddit post

  1. 1

    Pick the subreddit

Enter any `r/` name and optional icon. The generator renders it exactly as Reddit would.

  2. 2

    Write the title and body

Titles up to 300 characters, body text with markdown for bold, italics and quotes.

  3. 3

    Add the metadata

Upvotes, comments, post age, author flair, NSFW tag and up to three gold or platinum awards.

  4. 4

    Export as PNG

Download the rendered card at 2x retina resolution, cropped cleanly for social.

What gets rendered

  • Subreddit header with icon, name and • Posted by u/{handle} meta line.
  • Post title in bold, wrapped to Reddit’s desktop width.
  • Body text with markdown styles (**bold**, *italic*, > quotes, lists).
  • Vote pill showing up/down arrows and a formatted count (12.3k, not 12345).
  • Action bar with comment count, share, save and award glyphs.
  • Awards row where you can toggle Silver, Gold and Platinum badges.

Tips for believable fakes

  • Match subreddit tone. A /r/AskReddit title looks different from a /r/programming title. Read three top posts from the target sub before writing yours.
  • Use realistic numbers. A brand-new post with 47k upvotes is a giveaway. Fresh posts typically have 1-20 upvotes in the first hour.
  • Karma-formatted counts. Reddit shows 1.2k not 1234; the generator formats counts the same way.
  • Check username length. Real handles are 3-20 characters. u/a and u/the_longest_username_you_can_imagine_xyz both break the mask.

Where fake Reddit posts show up

  • Case studies in social media courses, where a sanitized thread stands in for a real one that cannot be shown with real usernames.
  • Video essays and news explainers that need to reference a style of post without citing the original (to avoid harassment of real users).
  • Internal comms mockups, HR teams testing how a fake complaint thread would render if the channel launched.

What to avoid

Do not stage a fake Reddit post that names a real person, a real business or a real handle and presents it as genuine. It is defamation at worst and harassment-facilitation at best. Use clearly fictional handles (u/throwaway_example, u/testuser_2026) and a subreddit that obviously does not exist.
