Blossom Solver

Valid words

Merriam-Webster Blossom style puzzle: a required center letter plus outer letters.

Next

Stuck on today’s Blossom? Drop in the six outer petal letters and the required centre letter, and the solver scans its short built-in English word list for every 4-letter-or-longer word it can find, sorted by length, with pangrams (words that use all seven letters) flagged for the bonus. Add your own words in the extra dictionary field for better coverage. Use it as a nudge when you are one word from the Genius rank, or to post-mortem a board after you ran out of time.

How to use the Blossom solver

  1. 1

    Enter the centre letter

The single letter that every valid word must contain at least once.

  2. 2

    Enter the six petal letters

Type them in any order. Letters can be reused within a word, so duplicates matter only for counting possibilities.

  3. 3

    Run the solver

The built-in list and any words you added are scanned for 4+ letter words that use only the seven letters and include the centre.

  4. 4

    Sort and scan

Results are sorted by length, longest first, and pangrams are flagged. The solver lists the words as plain text, with no scores or copy buttons.

How the built-in list works

  • The solver starts from a short built-in list of a few dozen common English words.
  • Anything you type in the extra dictionary field is added to that list for the current search.
  • Only words of 4 letters or more that use the seven letters and include the centre are returned.

Scoring recap (game rules)

  • 4 letters: 2 points
  • 5 letters: 4 points
  • 6 letters: 6 points
  • 7+ letters (pangram): 12 points plus 7 bonus

Each petal has a petal-bonus multiplier on certain days, and words that end on that petal score double. The solver does not compute scores; those rules belong to the game itself.

Example board

  • Centre: N
  • Petals: A, E, R, T, S, I

Top picks the solver returns from its built-in list for this board:

  • NASTIER, RETAINS, STAINER, STEARIN (pangrams, 7 letters)
  • EARNEST, EASTERN, TERRAIN, TRAINEE (7 letters)
  • TRAIN, RAINS, SAINT, STAIN, SNARE (5 letters)
  • RAIN, NINE, NEAT, NEST, SENT (4 letters)

Every word includes N because the centre letter is mandatory on every guess. These letters are the solver’s defaults, so they are already filled in when the page loads.

Tips for better scores (game advice)

  • Chase pangrams first, they cross the score threshold for ranks faster than piling up 4-letter words.
  • Watch for -ING and -ED endings when those letters appear in petals; they generate length cheaply.
  • Plurals count if the S is available. Do not forget the trailing S on otherwise-6-letter roots.
  • Avoid proper nouns and hyphenated forms, Blossom accepts standard English dictionary entries only.

Frequently Asked Questions

A short built-in English list of a few dozen common words, plus anything you add in the extra dictionary field. It is not a full dictionary, so uncommon answers can be missing; add your own words for better coverage.

The solver works only from its built-in list and the words you added, while Blossom keeps its own curated list with its own rules. A word can appear here and still be rejected by the game, so compare before submitting.

Yes. Each letter can be used as many times as you like, the petal set defines the alphabet, not the stock.

No, nothing is stored on our servers. The letters travel with each search request and can appear in the page link while you move between steps, and they are cleared when you close the page.
