Start with the source itself. Copy names, titles, dates, volume and issue numbers, page ranges, publisher details, DOI, and URL carefully. Put each personal author on a separate line. This tool moves the final surname to the front when a name has no comma; for compound surnames or unusual naming conventions, enter the intended form as SURNAME, Given names and review the result. Choose organisational author when the credited creator is an institution rather than a person.

Leave an unknown field empty instead of inventing a value. The formatter omits empty elements and their nearby punctuation, so a missing publisher does not create a dangling colon or comma. That clean omission does not decide whether ABNT guidance expects an abbreviation or substitute expression for the missing element. Make that decision only after consulting the current guide required for your work.

The generated text uses familiar Portuguese reference markers such as Disponível em and Acesso em. It does not create an in-text citation, footnote, bibliography heading, DOI lookup, metadata import, or verified compliance report. Before submitting academic or professional work, compare the editable result with the original source and the examples supplied by your institution. Apply italics, bold, capitalisation, indentation, ordering, and spacing in the final document as required there.
