Wedding Planning Checklist
Set your planning dates
The checklist compresses earlier tasks when your timeline is shorter.
Turn your wedding date into a practical, dated planning checklist. How an adaptive wedding checklist works
A wedding checklist is most useful when it connects each task to the actual event date. This planner works backward from your wedding, placing long-lead decisions such as venues and photography early, invitations and logistics in the middle, and confirmations near the final month and week. If you begin with less time, unfinished early-stage work moves to your planning start date instead of disappearing.
That compression is intentional: a couple starting six months before the wedding still needs to consider venue availability, guest numbers, an officiant, and local marriage requirements. They simply need to prioritize those decisions sooner. Use the “due or overdue” and “next 30 days” views to find the immediate work, then change dates or add custom tasks when a vendor gives you a real deadline.
| Planning phase | Typical focus | Useful question |
|---|---|---|
| 12+ months | Budget, guest estimate, venues | What decisions limit every later choice? |
| 6–12 months | Major vendors, attire, guest information | Which bookings have limited availability? |
| 1–6 months | Invitations, logistics, fittings | What needs a confirmed count or delivery date? |
| Final month | RSVPs, seating, payments, timeline | Who needs the final details? |
| Final week and after | Packing, delegation, returns, thanks | What can someone else own? |
For example, with a wedding on 20 September and a planning start on 15 January, a task scheduled 120 days before the event receives a May due date. Starting in July compresses that same task to July so it appears immediately. The original checklist is a template, not a rulebook: cultural traditions, destination travel, venue contracts, and the size of the celebration can add or remove substantial work.
Marriage-license rules are especially location-specific. Application windows, identification, witnesses, waiting periods, expiry dates, officiant eligibility, and return procedures vary. Confirm them with the government office responsible for marriages where the ceremony will take place. The printable view can be saved as a PDF, while CSV export is useful for a spreadsheet or shared planning system.

You can add dated custom tasks, remove those custom items, choose whether to include reception and lodging work, and simply leave irrelevant template tasks unchecked.
