Fit modes compared
- Cover. Fills the full target size and crops whatever extends beyond the frame. Use it for photos where losing a little edge detail is acceptable.
- Contain. Keeps the whole source image visible and adds padding where the ratios do not match. Use it for logos, screenshots, product graphics and text-heavy designs.
- Background color. The color picker fills padding in contain mode and shows through transparent areas in PNG or WebP sources.
Before you publish
- Preview each generated size. A crop that works for a square Instagram post may cut off text in a vertical Story.
- Keep important text and faces away from the edges because apps may add buttons, captions or safe-area overlays.
- Upload JPEG or WebP when a platform accepts them and file size matters. Use PNG when you need crisp text, transparency or a lossless master.
- If the source image is smaller than a preset, the browser can still scale it up, but the result may look soft. Start from the highest-resolution original available.
