Build the shooting order

Edit each row, add shots, and move rows up or down. IDs and notes stay with their row.

Shots:

IDs are text. Enter 001 or A-02 exactly as your crew uses it. A list can contain up to 60 shots.

Turn your own shot ideas into a practical production table. Name the project, enter the first shot, then add and reorder rows for each scene. Keep framing, camera movement, setup, location, duration, priority, status and notes alongside the shot they describe. Review the list before downloading CSV or printing a copy for the crew.

Make a shot list

  1. 1

    Start with a real shot

Enter the project name, scene ID, shot ID and a short description. IDs are text, so 001 and A-02 keep their exact spelling.

  2. 2

    Build the shooting order

Add shots, edit the camera and production details, and move rows up or down. Each row keeps its own IDs and notes when moved.

  3. 3

    Review and export

Read the final table, download a CSV for spreadsheet editing, or open the browser print dialog. The dialog may offer Save as PDF.

A shot list is a production table

A shot list gives the crew a row for each planned camera shot. It is useful when the order of filming differs from the order of the story, or when several shots share a location or camera setup. Scene and shot IDs identify the material; the description tells a reader what to capture. Framing, movement, setup, location and estimated duration give the team practical context. Priority and status are labels you choose, not a schedule or a guarantee that a shot is ready.

Field What to enter Example
Scene and shot IDs The identifiers your crew already uses Scene 03, shot 03B
Description The visible action or subject Cyclist stops at the gate
Framing and movement A short camera cue Medium, slow track left
Setup and location Equipment or place needed Tripod, north entrance
Duration and notes Your estimate and reminders 20 min; check background traffic

Keep IDs and shooting order separate

This editor never renumbers a shot when you move it. A shot called 003 stays 003 even if you put it first for a shared lighting setup. The combination of scene ID and shot ID must be unique in this list so that a crew member can refer to one row without guessing. You can use leading zeros, letters and punctuation in either ID. A duration is free text: “20 min” is an estimate you write, not an automatically calculated call time.

The CSV file quotes commas, double quotes and line breaks so descriptions and notes remain in their columns. It also neutralizes cells that spreadsheet software might treat as formulas. Review any spreadsheet import settings before changing IDs, because some apps convert text such as 001 to the number 1. The print layout carries the project and column headings onto continuation pages. Check the browser preview when you have many long notes, and choose suitable paper size and orientation for your crew.

Scope and privacy

The tool lays out only the material you enter. It does not read a screenplay, suggest coverage, make a call sheet, reserve locations or verify production safety. Your draft is kept in this browser tab, not sent to our servers or put in a page URL. If tab storage is blocked, you can continue in the current tab, but moving to another page will not preserve the draft. Download or print a copy before closing the tab.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Move a row up or down at the editing step, then change any of its fields. Its IDs, description and production notes move together. The displayed order is the order exported and printed.

Use Print shot list to open your browser print dialog; the browser may offer Save as PDF. This tool does not directly create a PDF file, calculate a shooting schedule or estimate setup times for you.

No. The project and shot rows are edited and stored in this browser tab, without being sent to our servers or added to the page address. If browser tab storage fails, the current page remains usable; export or print before leaving it.
