SAT score ranges and arithmetic
College Board reports two section scores: Reading and Writing and Math. Each section ranges from 200 to 800 in 10-point increments, so the total ranges from 400 to 1600.

This tool accepts scores that have already been reported. It does not convert a raw count of correct answers into a scaled score. The digital SAT is multistage adaptive and uses item-response scoring, so two students with the same number of correct answers can receive different section scores.
Worked example: best sitting versus superscore
Suppose a student enters these official results:

The best single-sitting total is 1480 from May. The calculated superscore is 1540 because it combines the 760 Reading and Writing score from March with the 780 Math score from May.
That 1540 is useful for planning only when a college accepts superscores under its current policy. Colleges decide independently whether they superscore, which dates they consider and how applicants must send scores. Verify each institution’s policy before acting on the result.
Choosing a realistic planning target
College Board recommends researching the score ranges published by colleges you are considering. A target can help organize preparation, but it is not an admission cutoff or guarantee. Admissions decisions can depend on many parts of an application, and score-use policies can change.
If you enter both a total target and two section targets, the calculator requires the section targets to add up to the total. This prevents a plan such as 1450 overall from quietly conflicting with section goals of 750 and 750.
Privacy and exports
Scores, dates and targets are calculated in your browser. Funnel progress uses this browser tab’s session storage and does not place score data in the URL or send it through Livewire. The downloadable CSV begins with a UTF-8 byte-order mark for spreadsheet compatibility and escapes cells that could otherwise be interpreted as formulas.
