Build a simple stand-in image for a wireframe, prototype or content slot. Choose the dimensions, colors and optional label, then download the browser-rendered PNG. The tool also creates a URL and HTML image tag for placehold.co, picsum.photos or dummyimage.com.

How to create a placeholder image

    Select placehold.co, picsum.photos or dummyimage.com for the copied remote URL.

    Set the size

    Enter a width and height from 1 to 4000 pixels.

    Style the canvas

    Pick background and foreground colors and add an optional label. Picsum URLs ignore these style choices.

    Use the result

    Download the locally drawn canvas as PNG, or copy the remote URL or HTML tag.

Choosing useful dimensions

Use the same aspect ratio as the final asset so the layout does not jump when real content replaces the placeholder.

What each output means

  • Download PNG saves the canvas drawn in your browser, including the selected colors, grid, cross and label.
  • URL points to the selected third-party image service. Picsum supplies a random photo and does not use your colors or label.
  • HTML wraps that remote URL in an <img> element with width, height and alternative text.

The optional label is part of server state and may also appear in the copied third-party URL. Do not enter confidential text.

Frequently Asked Questions

The download button produces a PNG. The tool does not export SVG, JPEG or WebP.

Width and height are each limited to 4000 pixels. Very large canvases can use substantial browser memory.

The preview is a locally drawn placeholder. Picsum returns a random remote photograph and ignores the chosen colors and label.

Do not treat it as private. It is sent through the page application, can appear in funnel URLs and is included in supported third-party image URLs.
