Mahjong Score Calculator
Manual riichi point calculation
Select counted han, fu, seat and win method yourself. This tool does not identify yaku, dora, fu, legality, yakuman patterns or winning hands.
Choose the table and winner
Four-player mode uses standard riichi transfers. Three-player mode shows a scope notice instead of a payout.
These non-sensitive selections may appear in the URL in the multi-step flow. No hand tiles or player identities are collected.
Turn an already-counted Japanese riichi mahjong result into standard four-player payments. Select 1 to 13 han, an allowed fu value, dealer status, ron or tsumo, and the table rule for a 1,920-point base. The calculator shows who pays how much and rounds each payer amount up to the next 100 points.
How to calculate a riichi payment
-
1
Choose the player count and seat
Use four players for a numerical result, then identify whether the winner is the dealer or a non-dealer.
-
2
Enter counted han and fu
Select values you have already determined under the rules used at your table.
-
3
Choose ron, tsumo and the mangan rule
Select the win method and whether a 1,920 base remains formula-scored or receives WRC 2025 kiriage mangan.
-
4
Read each transfer
Review the limit name, base points, each payer amount and the total received before any excluded counters or sticks.
What this calculator does
This is a manual payment calculator, not a hand scorer. It assumes that you have already counted the hand under the rules used at your table. It never looks at tiles and does not infer yaku, dora, fu, waits, hand legality or yakuman patterns.
The numerical result covers standard four-player Japanese riichi transfers only. Selecting three players clears the result because sanma payment methods and balancing conventions vary. The calculator also excludes honba, riichi sticks, pao or responsibility payments, multiple yakuman and local options.
Base-point formula and limits
For a hand below a named limit, the raw base is:
fu × 2^(han + 2)
The calculator applies these selected limits before multiplying the base into a payment:
| Counted han or base | Displayed class | Base points |
|---|---|---|
| Below mangan | Formula score | Calculated base |
| 5 han, or raw base of at least 2,000 | Mangan | 2,000 |
| 6–7 han | Haneman | 3,000 |
| 8–10 han | Baiman | 4,000 |
| 11–12 han | Sanbaiman | 6,000 |
| 13 han | Kazoe yakuman, rule-set dependent | 8,000 |
The 13-han choice deliberately carries a warning. Some rules treat counted 13 han differently, so an 8,000 base must be confirmed against the local rules. The tool does not accept more than 13 counted han and does not calculate stacked yakuman.
The 1,920-base rule is explicit
Both 4 han/30 fu and 3 han/60 fu produce a raw base of 1,920. The Formula scoring option keeps 1,920 as the base. The WRC 2025 kiriage mangan option rounds that base to 2,000 and labels it mangan.
This distinction is not presented as one universal Japanese rule. The World Riichi Championship rules page provides the 2025 rules and scoring table; its 2025 rules specify kiriage mangan for 4 han/30 fu and 3 han/60 fu. Other organizations, software and home tables may use formula scoring instead. Select the option that matches the game being scored.
Ron payments
For ron, one discarder pays the whole amount:
- Dealer winner: base × 6
- Non-dealer winner: base × 4
The payer amount is rounded up to the next 100. For example, 1 han/30 fu has a 240-point base. A non-dealer ron is 240 × 4 = 960, rounded up to 1,000 points. Under formula scoring, 4 han/30 fu is 1,920 × 4 = 7,680, rounded up to 7,700 points. With WRC 2025 kiriage selected, the same inputs use a 2,000 base and return 8,000 points.
Tsumo payments
A dealer tsumo charges each of the other three players base × 2, with every payment rounded up separately. A non-dealer tsumo charges the dealer base × 2 and each of the other two non-dealers base × 1, again rounding each transfer separately.
For example, a 6-han non-dealer tsumo is haneman with a 3,000 base. The dealer pays 6,000, each other non-dealer pays 3,000, and the winner receives 12,000 points in total before honba or riichi sticks.
Confirm the score sheet before settling a game
The result is arithmetic from the selected values, not a ruling. Check the actual yaku, fu calculation, winning-tile interpretation, limit policy and added counters with the rule document or score sheet used by the table. This calculator gives no gambling, wagering or financial advice.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. Enter han and fu that have already been counted. The calculator does not inspect tiles, determine yaku or dora, validate a hand, choose a wait, or decide whether a win is legal.
A 1,920 base occurs at 4 han/30 fu and 3 han/60 fu. Formula scoring keeps that base, while WRC 2025 uses kiriage mangan and rounds it to 2,000. Select the rule used by the table rather than assuming one option is universal.
No. Three-player riichi transfer and balancing rules vary. Selecting three players clears the numerical payout and leaves a scope notice instead.
No. The result excludes honba, riichi sticks, responsibility payments, multiple yakuman and local options. Add only the items required by the rules for the game after checking the score sheet.
