What belongs on an invitation?
A useful invitation answers the questions a guest will ask: who is hosting or being celebrated, what the occasion is, when it starts, where it takes place, and how to respond. Add a dress code, age guidance, registry note, or arrival instruction only when it helps the guest. Put the event name and date high in the visual hierarchy; keep the venue, address, and RSVP line easy to scan.
| Detail | Example | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Heading | You are invited | Establishes the purpose |
| Honoree or event | Maya’s graduation party | Says who and what |
| Date and time | Saturday, June 14 at 6:00 PM | Prevents scheduling ambiguity |
| Venue and address | Garden Room, 24 Oak Street | Gives the destination |
| RSVP | Reply by May 30 to Alex: 555-0100 | Sets a clear response path |
| Optional note | Garden attire; dinner follows | Helps guests prepare |
Size, resolution, and printing
The portrait design is 1500 × 2100 pixels, and landscape swaps those dimensions. That is a 5 × 7 inch layout at 300 pixels per inch, a common invitation size. Keep important wording away from the edge: commercial printers trim with small tolerances, so a generous safe margin protects names and dates.
This tool exports a flat RGB PNG. The pixel dimensions are appropriate for a 5 × 7 print at 300 PPI, but the file does not contain crop marks, a dedicated bleed area, embedded fonts, or a CMYK color profile. If a commercial printer asks for bleed—often 0.125 inch (about 3 mm)—place the PNG into the printer’s template or request a proof before ordering. Screen and print colors can also differ.
Wording and timing tips
Write dates and addresses in full when formality matters, and state the time zone for online or destination events. For a formal celebration, invitations are commonly sent several weeks ahead; casual gatherings may need much less notice. The right lead time ultimately depends on travel, venue deadlines, and when you need the final guest count.

It creates a 5 × 7 inch-proportion design: 1500 × 2100 px in portrait or 2100 × 1500 px in landscape. At 300 pixels per inch, those dimensions map to a 5 × 7 print.
No. The download is a flat RGB PNG at the finished 5 × 7 proportion. If your printer requires bleed or crop marks, place it in the printer’s own template and follow that printer’s specifications.
Give guests one clear response method, the contact name, and a deadline when you need a head count. For example: “Please reply by May 30 to Alex at 555-0100.”
No invitation wording is sent to the server. It stays in your browser and, while you use the multi-step maker, in that tab’s session storage so it can survive each step. Closing the tab clears normal session storage; you can also use Start over to remove it.
