Frame thickness, inner line and colors

A frame adds a solid colored border around your photo. Use the sliders and color pickers to build anything from a thin outline to a bold poster border.

What the controls do

  • Frame thickness: width of the solid border, from 0 to 200 px. At 0 there is no border at all.
  • Inner line: a second, thinner line drawn inside the border, a short gap away from the photo edge. Set its thickness to 0 to hide it.
  • Inner gap: distance between the photo edge and the inner line. It only matters when the inner line is visible.
  • Frame color: color of the border.
  • Inner color: color of the inner line.

How the final size is calculated

The frame is added around the photo, so the canvas grows by twice the thickness in each direction. A 1000 × 1000 photo with a 30 px frame becomes a 1060 × 1060 image with the photo centered. The inner line and gap sit inside the border, so they do not change the final size.

Color and style tips

  • A dark frame with a white inner line reads like a museum mount and works on almost any photo.
  • Match the frame color to the palette of the photo: warm brown or white for warm-toned photos, black or gray for cool ones.
  • The border separates the photo from the background, so it also helps photos with light edges stand out on white pages.
  • Avoid very thick frames on small images: on a 200 × 200 photo, a 150 px frame leaves little room for the photo itself.
