Image Format Converter
Converting a photo from PNG to WebP can cut its file size in half; saving a screenshot as PNG keeps it perfectly sharp; delivering JPG keeps every old device happy. This converter turns one image into PNG, JPEG or WebP right in your browser. It accepts JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF and BMP files as input, and everything happens locally: your image is never uploaded.
How to convert image formats
-
1
Drop an image
Any JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF or BMP file, up to 30 MB. An animated GIF is converted from its first frame.
-
2
Pick the target format
PNG, JPEG or WebP; the table below explains when to pick each one.
-
3
Set the quality
For JPEG and WebP, drag the quality slider. PNG is lossless, so no quality setting is needed.
-
4
Preview and download
Check the converted image in the preview, then download it as a single file.

Quality settings that work
- JPEG: 80-90 for photos, 70-75 for heavily compressed web thumbnails.
- WebP lossy: 75-85 produces smaller files than JPEG at matching quality.
Alpha channel behaviour
JPEG does not support transparency, so when you convert a PNG with transparent areas to JPEG, those pixels come out black. PNG and WebP keep the alpha channel as it is. Going the other way (JPEG to PNG) does not add transparency: JPEG never had any.
Frequently Asked Questions
For photos on the web, WebP gives the smallest files at high quality, with JPEG as the universally compatible fallback. For screenshots, diagrams or anything with text or transparency, PNG is the safest choice because it is lossless.
This converter works on a single still image, so an animated GIF is converted from its first frame only. If you need to keep the animation, leave the file as GIF.
No, the tool processes one image per conversion. Convert the files one by one; each one takes only a few seconds.
The conversion runs entirely in your browser, so metadata such as EXIF, GPS or camera details is not carried over to the output file.
