Image Background Remover

Simple color-key removal: works best on a single, even background color. It does not identify a subject or refine edges.

Restoring selected file...

This browser tool removes pixels close to one background color and saves the result as a transparent PNG. It is useful for a product photo on white paper, a logo on a flat color, or a scanned object with an even backdrop. It is a color key, not an AI subject detector, so it does not recognise people, hair, objects, or complicated scenery.

Remove a flat image background

  1. 1

    Choose an image

Select one image up to 30 MB and 24 megapixels. The source stays in this browser.

  2. 2

    Choose the background color

Average the four corners for an even backdrop, or choose a color yourself.

  3. 3

    Adjust tolerance

Increase tolerance until the background disappears, while watching the subject edge.

  4. 4

    Download PNG

Download the transparent PNG directly from your browser.

When color-key removal is the right choice

The tool compares every pixel with one selected background color. Pixels within the tolerance become transparent; nearby pixels receive partial transparency to soften the transition.

Good source images

  • A logo on a single white or colored background.
  • A product photographed against seamless paper or a uniformly lit wall.
  • A scan where the page around the object has one consistent color.

Cases that need another editor

  • Hair, fur, glass, shadows, or translucent fabric.
  • A background with several colors, texture, gradients, or uneven lighting.
  • A subject that shares the same color as the background.

Start with a low tolerance. Raise it gradually and check the edge on the checkerboard preview. A high tolerance can remove parts of the subject that resemble the background color.

Privacy and output

The selected image is decoded and processed in your browser. In the guided three-step flow, the image is held in browser storage only so it can be restored between steps; it is never placed in the URL or sent to the server. The output is a PNG because JPEG files cannot carry transparency.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. It removes a chosen color or the average color of the four corners. Use an AI background-removal editor when the subject must be separated from a detailed scene.

That area is close to the chosen background color or the tolerance is too high. Lower the tolerance, choose a different background color, or use a cleaner source image.

No. This tool processes one image at a time and downloads one PNG.

No. The file stays in your browser. The optional guided flow uses browser storage only to keep the selected file between its local steps.
