Google SERP Simulator
This tool gives a Google-style preview of a breadcrumb, blue title and description. It uses fixed character limits rather than Google’s live font and pixel measurements: about 60 title characters and 155 description characters on desktop, or 55 and 120 on mobile. Use it to spot copy that is likely too long, not as a promise of the exact snippet Google will show. Your title, URL and description stay in this browser session and are not sent to our server.
How to check a search snippet
-
1
Paste the URL
The preview uses the host and the first path segments to form a breadcrumb.
-
2
Write the title tag
The preview shortens the title at a character limit. It does not measure Google's current pixel width.
-
3
Write the meta description
Check that the key point appears early enough to survive the character limit.
-
4
Switch device
Mobile uses shorter character limits than desktop in this preview.
How this approximation works
| Element | Desktop preview | Mobile preview |
|---|---|---|
| Title | Up to 60 characters | Up to 55 characters |
| Description | Up to 155 characters | Up to 120 characters |
| Breadcrumb | Host plus up to 3 path segments | Host plus 1 path segment |
These are character limits, not pixel measurements. Letter widths, the rendered font, the search query and changes Google makes can all produce a different live result. Use the preview to find overly long copy, then check important pages in Google Search Console after publishing.
What makes a useful snippet
- Put the main topic near the beginning of the title.
- Keep the brand suffix short if you use one.
- Write a description that reads as a sentence rather than a list of keywords.
- Use clear URL paths so the breadcrumb is easy to scan.
Why Google may show different text
Google can choose another title or description when it thinks page text better matches a search. Keep the title tag, H1 and opening copy consistent, but treat the search result as Google's decision rather than a fixed layout.
