Fantasy Map Maker

Your map stays in this browser tab

Seeds, controls, generated SVG, and exports are handled locally. They are not placed in URLs, Livewire requests, uploads, or external map and AI services. Normal page requests still occur between funnel steps.

Seed and landmass

Start with a seed and landmass

A seed is a repeatable drawing recipe. Keep it with every setting when you want to recreate this map.

Up to 80 characters. The seed is not added to the URL.

Make a decorative fantasy map for a story, tabletop session, campaign note, or mood board. Enter a seed, choose a landmass and visual style, then adjust the amount of mountains, forest, and settlements. The same complete set of settings produces the same illustration in this tool. It is a small procedural drawing, not a real geography engine, route planner, satellite map, or AI image generator.

How to make a fantasy map

  1. 1

    Start with a seed

Type a short seed you can remember, or create a new one. Keep the seed together with the terrain and style settings when you want to reproduce a map.

  2. 2

    Shape the illustration

Choose an island, continent, or archipelago, then set the density of mountains, forests, and settlements and select a visual style.

  3. 3

    Review and export

Inspect the generated artwork, make any local changes, then download a sharp SVG or a PNG image.

A seed is a repeatable drawing recipe

The seed is an input to the map maker’s small random-number routine. It chooses the coastline variation, the placement of decorative terrain symbols, and the placement of simple settlements. It does not use AI image generation. The same seed alone is not enough if you change the landmass, terrain-density controls, or visual style; keep the whole setting set if you need the same result again.

This generator deliberately favors readable fantasy-cartography cues over simulated geology. Mountain marks, tree clusters, rivers, and settlements are placed to make an evocative illustration. They do not model elevation, watersheds, climate, borders, travel time, property, hazards, or a real place. This is not a real-world map. Do not use the output for navigation, safety, land decisions, or any factual claim about geography.

What you choose What it affects What it does not promise
Seed Repeatable variation for the current settings A real location or a unique world history
Landmass Island, continent, or archipelago silhouette Coastline accuracy or physical geography
Terrain density Number of decorative mountain, forest, and settlement marks Population, biome, or resource data
Style Palette and line treatment A licensed historical map or a hand-drawn original

Keep your map work local

The illustration is assembled in the browser from the seed and controls. The preview SVG and exported PNG are created locally; the tool does not upload an image or contact a map, geocoding, or AI service. Settings are kept in browser session storage while you move through the tool’s steps, so they are not placed in the URL or sent through Livewire. Normal page requests still occur when you open a different funnel step.

Before sharing an export, review it as artwork. Add your own place names, attribution, accessibility text, and game facts in the program where you will publish it. SVG is useful when you want a crisp image to edit in compatible design software; PNG is often simpler for documents, slides, and chat.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, when you keep the seed, selected landmass, terrain-density controls, and visual style unchanged. The tool uses those values together to make the same procedural illustration.

No. It creates decorative fantasy-cartography symbols and silhouettes. Coastlines, mountains, forests, settlements, and rivers are not geographic data and must not be used for navigation or factual decisions.

No. It uses a small browser-side procedural routine, with no AI image generation, map lookup, geocoding, uploads, or external map API.

No. They are handled in the current browser tab and saved only in session storage while you use the funnel. They are not added to the URL or sent through Livewire.

Choose SVG when you want a sharp, scalable file to edit in compatible design software. Choose PNG for a straightforward image file for documents, slides, or messages. Both are generated locally from the current map.
