Dog Walking Timer

Plan

Use this Dog Walking Timer to set a personal time reminder, pause when needed and mark moments on one walk. Your optional dog name and settings stay in your browser. This is a timing aid, not a fitness plan or a way to judge whether conditions are safe.

Pick a personal reminder from 5 to 180 minutes. It is not a recommended amount of exercise.

What this timer can and cannot do

Feature This timer does This timer does not do
Time Shows active elapsed time, a selected target and pauses Measure distance, pace, steps or calories
Reminders Shows check-in prompts and can request vibration on supported devices Send background notifications or contact anyone
Markers Keeps simple markers during the current walk Create a walk history or a training record
Safety Prompts you to check your dog Read weather, surface temperature, hydration, pain or health

The selected target is only your own reminder. Dogs differ in age, health, conditioning, breed traits and daily needs. A timer cannot decide a suitable duration, route or pace. Ask a veterinarian for advice that is specific to your dog.

Check conditions, not just the clock

Before and during a walk, consider access to water, shade, the surface under paw and local leash rules. In hot conditions, reduce or skip exertion when needed. Pavement and sand can become hot enough to hurt paw pads. The American Kennel Club also advises watching for heavy panting, excessive drooling, weakness, loss of balance or collapse as possible signs of overheating.

If your dog seems unwell, stop the activity and move to a cooler, safe place. Heatstroke and collapse can be emergencies, so contact a veterinarian promptly. This page cannot diagnose a problem or replace professional care.

Privacy and reminders

The timer runs in the browser. In the step-by-step version, the setup is held in browser session storage for up to 30 minutes so the next page can continue; it is not put in the address or sent through Livewire. The running clock, markers and alerts stay in the open page or tab. Closing the tab, reloading or clearing browser data can remove them.

No GPS, route, distance, health data or walk history is collected by this tool. Vibration is optional and may be unavailable on some devices. It is not a background notification service.
