Book Cover Maker
Enter the front-cover text
Add a title, optional subtitle, and author or creator line. Review every character before publishing.
Create front-cover artwork for an ebook concept, manuscript mockup, reading project, or early publishing draft. Enter a title, optional subtitle, and author line; choose a theme and cover proportion; and optionally add an image from your device. The text, re-encoded image, SVG preview, and PNG export stay in your browser. The result is front-cover artwork, not a complete print wrap, a publishing submission, or confirmation that you have rights to the words, image, or design.
How to make a book front cover
-
1
Add the cover text
Enter the title, subtitle if needed, and author or creator line. The preview supports Unicode text and limits very long lines to fit the layout.
-
2
Choose the visual direction
Compare four distinct themes and three vertical cover proportions. Each choice redraws the local SVG preview.
-
3
Review and export
Optionally add a local PNG, JPEG, or WebP image, check the finished front, then download SVG or PNG artwork.
Front-cover artwork is not a full print cover
A digital book listing commonly needs a single front image. A printed paperback or hardcover normally needs more: a back cover, spine, bleed, trim allowances, and sometimes printer-specific colour or PDF settings. Spine width depends on factors this maker does not know, including the final page count, paper, binding, and printer specification.
This tool deliberately exports only the visible front. Its ratio presets are useful starting proportions, not approval for a particular retailer, distributor, or printer. Check the current requirements for the service you will actually use before submitting the file.
| Maker choice | Included in the SVG and PNG | Still yours to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Title, subtitle, and author | Visible cover text, limited to the layout | Spelling, language, line breaks, credits, and legibility |
| Theme | Fixed colours, shapes, and browser-safe type families | Genre fit, contrast at thumbnail size, and font rendering in another app |
| Cover proportion | One of three front-canvas ratios and pixel sizes | Exact retailer dimensions, trim size, bleed, spine, back, and resolution rules |
| Optional artwork | A locally re-encoded JPEG embedded in the design | Image quality, consent, copyright, model/property releases, and licence terms |
Check the design at full size and thumbnail size
A title that reads well in the editor may be hard to read in a small store thumbnail. Review the export both large and small. Check all scripts and punctuation carefully; available browser fonts and glyph coverage vary by device, so the same SVG can substitute fonts when opened elsewhere.
The optional image is read and re-encoded in this browser before it is placed in the cover SVG. The tool does not upload it, search stock libraries, generate images with AI, remove backgrounds, or verify provenance. Cover text and settings use browser session storage while you move through the funnel, and none of those private values are put in a funnel URL or a request to our servers. Normal page requests still occur between steps.
Use only text and artwork you are allowed to publish. An export does not provide copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or licensing clearance, and it does not guarantee acceptance by a publisher, retailer, or printer.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. It creates the front artwork only. It does not calculate a spine or create a back cover, bleed, crop marks, colour profile, or printer-ready PDF.
Yes. Choose a PNG, JPEG, or WebP file up to 2 MB. The browser reads it, scales it down when needed, re-encodes it as JPEG, and embeds that local copy in the preview and export.
No. Cover text, controls, optional artwork, preview, and exports are handled in the browser. Funnel navigation makes normal page requests, but private design values are kept in session storage and out of URLs and requests to our servers.
Choose the proportion closest to your intended use, then check the current pixel, file, and aspect-ratio requirements of the retailer, publisher, or printer that will receive it. The presets are starting points, not universal specifications.
No. You must verify your rights to the title, artwork, and other material, as well as any trademark, copyright, privacy, publicity, licence, and publishing requirements.
